Gilbert is a town bustling in the Southeast valley of Arizona. Diverse in culture but true to it’s heritage, the city of Gilbert AZ is involved with it’s people. In 2014, Time’s Money Magazine rated the city of Gilbert, AZ #22 “Best Places to Live in America 2014.” Money ranked the 50 best small cities in the country, looking for great jobs, affordable homes, strong economies, excellent schools, and much much more. Aside from meeting such criteria, Gilbert was recognized as one of the fastest-growing places in America. As a small village of just 5,187 people in 1980, Gilbert grew into a city of 218,338 by 2014. Additionally, Money added: “Luckily its offerings have grown along with it. With a local history museum, great gourmet and Southwestern food, and annual rituals like dog-friendly “Barktoberfest,” there’s always something to do in this bustling, low-crime Phoenix suburb.”
Gilbert was the only city in Arizona to make the list.
Employment
As of January 31, 2015, the city of Gilbert already has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Arizona at only 4.60% (-4.17% from last period). Healthcare jobs are big in Gilbert with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Banner Health as two major employers. Isagenix, a network-marketing company with a presence in 11 countries, recently established its world headquarters here. But that’s not all. Gilbert’s growing status has brought in entrepreneurs and small business and restaurant owners from all over the country helping turn Gilbert into what valley locals now consider a valley “hot-spot.” To say the least, Gilbert’s economy has been flourishing.

Officially known as Gilbert Unified School District #41, Gilbert’s public schools (GPS) is an “A” Rated School School District. GPS covers most of Gilbert, and parts of Chandler and Mesa. On July 1, 2014, Dr. Christina M. Kishimoto began as Superintendent of Gilbert Public Schools.
